UNILAG Admission List: How To Check Your Status

You wrote the post-UTME, the result came out on 7 August, and now every WhatsApp group is asking the same thing: "Has UNILAG released the admission list?" If you are refreshing your phone every ten minutes, this guide will save you some data and some stress.

Where UNILAG admission actually shows up

UNILAG does not send you a letter in the post. Your admission shows up in a few places, and you should know all of them so you do not miss it.

  • The JAMB CAPS portal, where an offer appears under your profile when the school recommends you.
  • The UNILAG applicant portal, where you log in with your UTME number and surname.
  • The school's official notices and social media pages, where batches of names are announced.

The JAMB CAPS offer is the one that counts first. Until you see it there, a name on a random list shared in a group chat means nothing.

Step-by-step: how to check your UNILAG admission status

Take these steps in order. It takes less than ten minutes if your network behaves.

  1. Log in to your JAMB profile at efacility.jamb.gov.ng with the email and password you used for registration.
  2. Open the "Check Admission Status" option and select your exam year and enter your registration number.
  3. If UNILAG has offered you a place, you will see "Admitted" with the course. Click "Accept" or "Reject" within the window JAMB gives you.
  4. Then log in to applications.unilag.edu.ng with your UTME number and surname in lowercase to see the next steps on the school side.

If you need a full walkthrough of the JAMB side, read our guide on how to check and accept admission on the JAMB CAPS portal.

Who UNILAG considers for admission

The 2026/2027 screening notice was clear about who could be considered. You needed to have chosen UNILAG as your first choice, scored 200 or above in UTME, and hold five credits including English and Mathematics.

You also had to be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026 and sit the post-UTME aptitude test.

The test ran from 27 to 31 July, and the school announced results on 7 August on its post-UTME results portal. The deadline for uploading O'Level results was 14 August.

If you missed any of these, the admission route gets harder, so check the JAMB admission deadline and plan your next move early.

How UNILAG ranks candidates

UNILAG blends your UTME score with your post-UTME score to build an aggregate, and each course has its own merit cut-off. Courses like Medicine and Law sit far above the general pass mark, while courses with fewer applicants sit lower.

The school published merit cut-offs on 16 September, with Medicine at 83.425, Law at 79.125 and Computer Science at 82.05.

That is why a candidate with a high UTME score can still miss a course. The list is competitive, and the school fills courses from the top of the merit order down.

Use the cut-off mark checker to see where you stand, and the JAMB aggregate calculator to estimate your own number.

What to do when your name is not on the first list

Admission lists do not come out all at once. UNILAG releases names in batches, and CAPS keeps updating as the school makes more recommendations. Missing the first batch does not mean you are out.

Keep your phone number and email active, because JAMB sends notices there. Check the portal every few days instead of every few minutes.

If you are admitted into a course you did not choose, read about JAMB CAPS transfer approval before you accept. And if October passes with nothing, our guide on late admission options lists what still works.

After you see "Admitted": what comes next

Do not celebrate by switching off your phone. There is paperwork.

Accept the offer on CAPS first, then follow the school's instructions for screening and document checks. Keep your O'Level result, birth certificate or declaration of age, local government identification letter, and passport photographs ready.

Our guide on documents for post-UTME screening has the full list.

Also keep an eye out for fake admission portals and agents who promise "sure admission" for money. UNILAG applications go through its own portal and JAMB only.

Nobody can sell you a place. If someone asks for money outside the official payment page, walk away and report it.

Common reasons a UNILAG list check shows nothing

A blank result is usually one of four things. Your O'Level result may not be uploaded on CAPS, so use our guides to upload your WAEC result or upload your NECO result.

UNILAG may not be your first choice on your JAMB record. Your aggregate may be below the course cut-off.

Or the batch you are in has not been released yet.

You can reach the school's post-UTME office at [email protected] for screening questions. For admission status questions, use JAMB's official channels.

How to read UNILAG's cut-off figures without fooling yourself

On 16 September UNILAG published merit cut-offs for 2026/2027, and the numbers made many candidates panic. Medicine was 83.425, Law 79.125, Computer Science 82.05, Nursing 77.925, Mass Communication 74.6 and Accounting 73.0.

Those figures are not UTME scores. They sit on the school's own aggregate scale, which mixes your UTME, your post-UTME and your O'Level grades.

So do not compare 83.425 with your 280 in JAMB and decide you are finished. What the list tells you is how crowded each course is.

If your aggregate is close to your course figure, you have a fair chance. If it is far below, think about a related course with a lower figure, because UNILAG often has such options in the same faculty.

You can read more about changing course in our guide on changing course or institution on JAMB.

Where this leaves you

The honest picture is this: UNILAG releases names in batches, the CAPS portal is the place that counts, and your next steps depend on what you see there. If your name is on the list, accept it fast.

If it is not, keep checking calmly, and start a Plan B before 31 October so that you are not stranded. Whatever happens, avoid anyone who offers to "arrange" a place for money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about this guide

1Has UNILAG released the 2026/2027 admission list?

UNILAG releases names in batches through JAMB CAPS and its portal. Check your CAPS profile and the school's official notices, because the school's announcement is the only reliable confirmation. Lists posted by random blogs and WhatsApp groups are not official.

2How do I check my UNILAG admission status?

Log in to efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, select your exam year, enter your registration number and view the result. Then log in to applications.unilag.edu.ng with your UTME number and surname in lowercase for the school side.

3What is the UNILAG cut-off mark for 2026/2027?

JAMB's general minimum is 150 for universities, but UNILAG sets its own course by course. The school published merit cut-offs on 16 September, with Medicine at 83.425, Law at 79.125 and Computer Science at 82.05 on its aggregate scale.

4Can I get UNILAG admission if I scored below 200?

The 2026/2027 screening notice asked for UNILAG as first choice and a UTME score of 200 or above. If you scored below that, check other courses, polytechnics or Direct Entry, and read our late admission guide.

5What should I do after UNILAG admits me?

Accept the offer on JAMB CAPS, then follow the school's instructions for screening, document checks and fee payment. Keep your O'Level result, age declaration and passport photographs ready.

6Is it true that someone can help me get UNILAG admission for a fee?

No. Admission goes through JAMB CAPS and the school's own portal. Anyone who asks for money outside the official payment page is a scammer, so report them to the school.
