When WAEC announced the 2026 WASSCE results on 5 August, the headline number was this: out of 1,950,726 candidates, 1,200,514 got credits in at least five subjects including English Language and Mathematics. That is a 61.54 percent pass rate.
It also means roughly 750,000 candidates did not meet that benchmark, and every one of them is now asking the same question about what to do next.
If you are among those who did get the credits, your next job is not to celebrate for another month. It is to make sure JAMB actually has your WAEC result, because your admission cannot move without it.
This guide walks through printing a clean copy of your result, getting it onto your CAPS profile, and fixing the usual problems when it refuses to show.

Start with a proper printout of your result
Schools and CBT centres want to see your result in black and white, not as a screenshot on your phone.
To check it on WAEC's official portal, you need three things: your 10-digit examination number, a valid result checker e-PIN with its serial number, and a device with internet.
Reports on this year's results say the e-PIN costs ₦5,000 and can be used up to five times for the same examination number, so you can reuse it for printing later without buying again.
Follow these steps on the official WAEC result portal:
- Enter your examination number.
- Select 2026 as the examination year.
- Choose School Candidate Result as the examination type.
- Type in the e-PIN and serial number from your scratch card or e-PIN purchase.
- Click Submit, then print or save the result page.
WAEC has also reminded candidates to use only its approved channels because fake result websites are everywhere. If a site asks you to pay on WhatsApp or promises to change your grades, close it.
Check the five credits before you do anything else
Look at your printout with a cold eye. Admission into degree programmes generally needs five credit passes (grade C6 or better) including English Language and Mathematics, plus subjects your course requires.
If your course is Medicine, for example, the sciences matter, and for Law the arts subjects do. Our admission eligibility checker lets you test your result against what a course typically asks for.
If you are short of five credits, do not panic and do not start paying strangers. There are legitimate routes, and we will cover them in a separate guide.
For now, make sure you know exactly where you stand before you spend money on an upload.
Getting the result onto your JAMB CAPS profile
The upload itself is done by an accredited JAMB CBT centre, using your registration number, examination type, examination number and grades.
We explain this process in detail, including what to carry, what it usually costs and how long it takes, in our guide to uploading your NECO result to JAMB CAPS.
The steps are the same for WAEC, except that you choose WAEC as the examination type and enter your WAEC examination number.
WAEC itself advised candidates to begin uploading their O'Level results to CAPS as soon as results came out, so if you have not done so yet, you are already late by several weeks. With the public university deadline at 31 October, move this week.
Why your WAEC result may not show on CAPS
An upload that looks complete can still fail to reflect. These are the usual culprits:
- A typing error at the centre: One wrong digit in your examination number is enough to pull up the wrong record or nothing at all.
- Wrong examination type: A WAEC result entered as NECO, or a school candidate result entered as a private candidate result, will not display properly.
- Mismatched names: If the name on your JAMB profile differs from the one on your WAEC result, flag it early. The fix may take time.
- System delay: Reports suggest results often appear within about 24 hours, but busy periods can stretch that.
- A different exam year selected: Make sure the year on your entry matches the sitting you are uploading.
Once the centre says it is done, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Access my CAPS and check My O'Level Result. If your subjects and grades are not there after a day or two, return to the centre with your receipt.
If you have results from more than one sitting
Some candidates combine WAEC with NECO or an earlier sitting to reach five credits.
Each school sets its own rule about how many sittings it accepts, so read our guide on the rules for combining WAEC and NECO results and confirm with your target school before you rely on a combination.
Keep your paperwork safe
Hold on to your result printout, your e-PIN and serial number, and the centre's receipt until you have been admitted and cleared. Schools often ask for the original statement of result during screening and clearance.
Our guide to documents and verification for screening lists what you may need to show.
Final word
Getting a good WAEC result is only half the job. The other half is putting it where JAMB and your school can see it, and checking that it landed correctly.
Do that now, and when an offer appears, you will be ready. If you are still waiting on an offer, read our guide for candidates who are not admitted as the deadlines approach.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about this guide
1Do I need to upload my WAEC result to JAMB for admission?
Yes. Schools cannot complete your admission recommendation until your O'Level grades are on your CAPS profile. WAEC itself advised candidates to start uploading their results to CAPS after the 2026 release.
2How much is the WAEC result checker e-PIN in 2026?
Reports on the 2026 results say a valid e-PIN costs ₦5,000 and can be used up to five times for the same examination number. Buy it only from WAEC's official channels or authorised outlets.
3How many candidates got five credits including English and Maths in WAEC 2026?
WAEC reported that 1,200,514 of 1,950,726 candidates, or 61.54 percent, obtained credits in at least five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
4Why is my WAEC result not showing on JAMB CAPS?
Common causes are a wrong examination number, the wrong examination type, a name mismatch with your JAMB profile, or a simple delay. Check My O'Level Result after about 24 hours, then return to the centre with your receipt if it is still missing.
5Can I use my phone screenshot of the WAEC result for upload or screening?
A screenshot is risky. Schools and CBT centres generally expect a proper printout from the official portal, and some ask for the original statement of result later. Print or save a clean copy.
6I did not get five credits. Can I still get admission?
There are routes such as a fresh sitting, combining results where the school allows it, or lower-entry programmes, but each depends on the school and course. Confirm requirements with the school before paying for anything.
