UNN Admission Portal 2026/2027: Screening & Fees

If UNN, Nsukka, is your school, you probably already did the hard part: you registered, uploaded your documents and wrote the aptitude test. Now the questions are about the portal, the fees, and what happens next.

Let us go through it slowly so you do not lose your place over a small mistake.

What UNN asked for in 2026/2027

The university's own screening notice set the rules for this session. You had to choose UNN as your first choice, score 160 or above in UTME, and be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026.

Your name also had to be the same on your WAEC or NECO result and on your JAMB registration, and you could not be waiting for November or December 2026 GCE or NECO results.

The fees were ₦2,000 for application and ₦3,300 for processing, which comes to ₦5,300 in total, paid through Remita at commercial banks. Registration opened on 15 July and closed at midnight on 5 August.

If you missed that window, skip to the section on late options below.

How the UNN screening portal works

You start at the university website, unn.edu.ng. There you enter your JAMB registration number, generate an invoice, pay it, and then upload your documents. The notice listed these documents: birth certificate, local government identification letter, testimonial, school leaving certificate, JAMB result slip and O'Level results.

Your O'Level result must be on two places: JAMB CAPS and the UNN portal. A missing upload on either side can hold you back. If you have not done the CAPS part, use our steps for uploading NECO or uploading WAEC.

Check your details before you pay

Open your JAMB profile and your O'Level result side by side and compare the spelling of your names, your date of birth and your registration number.

If anything is different, fix it before you generate the invoice, because UNN warned that names must be consistent. It takes ten minutes and can save you a whole year.

Direct Entry candidates

UNN also asked Direct Entry candidates to register if they chose the university as first choice, and their A Level results had to be verified through the NIPEDS process. If that is your route, start the verification early. It does not happen overnight.

Direct Entry candidates often have more documents to prepare, so give yourself extra time. Start with the verification that takes longest.

Keep a list of every document you submit, with the date. It makes follow-up easier.

Where to look for your admission

The UNN website posts notices about the aptitude test, uploads and admission, so check the notice board on unn.edu.ng often. Your real admission status is still on JAMB CAPS. Log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and enter your registration number.

If you see "Admitted", accept it before anything else. Our guide on how to check and accept admission on the JAMB CAPS portal shows the steps, and this guide explains why you must not wait.

UNN often runs more than one list

Last year, UNN released a supplementary admission list on 5 November 2025, after the main exercise. Do not treat that date as a promise for this year.

It only shows that the school does not always close its doors after the first list, so keep checking even if you do not see your name now.

If you are looking for what to do if no list shows your name, our guide on late admission options covers it, and so does our piece on the JAMB admission deadline.

How competitive is your course?

A UTME score of 160 only gets you into the screening. The real contest is by course.

Medicine, Law and Pharmacy will always ask for much more than courses with fewer applicants. Use the cut-off mark checker and the JAMB aggregate calculator so you know where you stand.

Mistakes that cause problems at UNN

These are the usual problems candidates meet each year. Check each one before it checks you.

  • Names that do not match on JAMB and on your O'Level result.
  • Paying through a bank agent without keeping the Remita receipt.
  • Uploading documents that are blurry or too large.
  • Missing the O'Level upload on CAPS.

Last warning: nobody can sell you UNN admission. If someone says they can "push your name", they are lying, and you will lose your money.

A calm timeline for the next four weeks

With 31 October as the public university deadline, you can organise your weeks. In the first week, confirm that your documents are uploaded on both CAPS and the UNN portal.

In the second, check your JAMB profile every few days and note anything that changes. In the third, if there is no offer, start looking at other schools and routes.

In the last week, make your final decision, accept any offer you have and prepare your documents for registration.

The takeaway

UNN's screening notice made the rules clear: first choice, 160 and above in UTME, matching names and the right documents. If you met them, your job now is to watch CAPS, accept quickly and avoid scammers.

If you did not, there are still other routes, and our guide on late admission options is a good place to begin.
